Quantum mechanics is indispensable for the fields of modern optics and photonics. It provides an important theoretical background for engineers designing practical applications. Photonic devices are ubiquitous nowadays and quantum
photonics is expected to play an important role in future quantum technologies. For these reasons it is crucial to design an introductory course on quantum mechanics for the students of Electro-optics and Photonics at an appropriate
level, building on their previous skills. Here I count on their knowledge of geometrical and wave optics, some understanding of electromagnetic waves and, particularly, on their motivation to learn more.
